After a late afternoon in Ellicott City, we headed to Sushi Sono at Restaurant at the Lake. It was nice that there was ample complimentary parking in the garage closest the the restaurant. When we got there, I told them that I had call ahead two hours ago but somehow they didn't write our name down in the books so they couldn't give us a table even though there were empty ones. Our party ended up sitting at the sushi bar.

The View at the Sushi Bar

Hot Tea

For drinks, we stuck to hot tea and iced water. Since we weren't super hungry - we shared two appetizers and four types of rolls.

Takosu

Beef Negimaki

For appetizers, we got Takosu which consisted of sliced octopus with cucumber and seaweed in a sweet rice vinegar. I'd say be adventurous and try octopus. It was my favorite item that we ordered. We also ordered the Beef Negimaki which consisted of grilled scallions wrapped in beef in a special sauce. None of us liked the dish. It wasn't very tasty or interesting. We wished we never ordered it.

Shrimp Tempura Roll, Japanese Squash Roll, Eel Cucumber Roll, and Yellowtail Scallion Roll

For the rolls, we shared Japanese Squash Roll, Yellowtail Scallion Roll, Eel Cucumber Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. The Japanese Squash Roll consisted of sweet soy sauce marinated Japanese Squash wrapped in rice covered dried seaweed. I was surprised to see rice inside and outside of the Yellowtail Scallion Roll. The Eel Cucumber Roll was my least favorite roll as it was topped with a salty soy sauce as opposed to the usual sweet eel sauce. I liked how the Shrimp Tempura Roll was topped with rice seasoning!
