A Unique Dining Experience at Juliet

Juliet is an Euro-inspired cafe with an open kitchen concept that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cafe has simple decor - branches on wall, cream colored pottery on the shelves, and tealight candle within clear glass containers (e.g., dish, tea cup, etc). The bathroom was fragrant and decorated with vases with lavender. Right outside the bathroom, there was a record player playing French opera music.

Since a liquor license is in the works, they currently serve mocktails, coffee, and tea. Today, I got to try their Saffron Soda. It was certainly interesting. I liked how it was not very bubbly.

The amuse of the day consisted of chopped heirloom tomato and rhubarb served in a rhubarb infused bourbon on a silver spoon. I liked how we started our meal on a sweet note.

The bread was unique. There were slices of whole wheat quinoa toast served with two types of butter - lobster roe and garden vegetable. I liked the taste of the garden vegetable one. The garden vegetable butter consisted of notes of carrot, cucumber, and onion. I decided to get the five course meal, which consisted of Fruits De Mer, Broccoli + Onions, Brazino, Mushrooms, and Chocolate + Raspberry dessert.

The Fruits De Mer was nicely plated. The plate consisted of cured salmon, pickled mussel, pickled Brazino, anchovy, pickled shrimp, baked mussel in herb garlic, uni, and foamy juniper butter.

The Broccoli + Onions consisted of broccoli, onion, and orange prepared two ways, each way complementing each other in terms of taste and texture. One of the broccoli was roasted while the other was deep fried to amber color, resembling a tempura and tasting like curried ginger. One of the red onion was roasted while the other was pickled. The dish was garnished with an orange segment and drops of burnt orange infused butter. There were also sunflower seeds and breadcrumbs.

The Brazino was made for two. It consisted of olive powder and salt dusted brazino, deep fried whole and served with castelvetrano green olives, celery, radish, potato mille-feuille, grilled lemon, and romesco sauce on the side. I liked how the fish skin was crispy and fish was fresh. However, I didn't like how there were so many bones (but that's a personal preference).

The Mushrooms consisted of assorted variety of mushrooms, some of which was handpicked by the chef. This variety consisted of button mushrooms, miyake mushrooms, chanterelles, chicken of the woods mushrooms, and enoki mushrooms, sauteed in a salty but tasty sauce consisting of morels reserve, brown butter, and cream. I love how the mushrooms were prepared!

Before the dessert, I was given a side salad consisted of mixed greens, fried shallots, and burnt capers lightly tossed in a creamy lemon vinaigrette. It was quite refreshing and a great way to cleanse the palate.

The Chocolate + Raspberry dessert consisted of a Chocolate Caramel Torte topped with fresh raspberries in raspberry sauce, garnished with a scoop of whipped cream, and sprinkled with chocolate cookie crumbles. For chocolate lovers, it was a match made in heaven.

Upon receiving the bill, our server brought us mini brown butter cornbread bites. I liked how these were sweet and moist. I would definitely return to Juliet for another meal in the near future!
